If you haven’t got any classes in the morning, you can start your day in the Goldsmiths library. The Library houses around 300,000 books and 7,000 print and electronic journals, for you to read, learn from, and cite in work. Arriving early means you get your pick of a desk, across three floors, and a number of different quiet (and less quiet) study areas.

Deptford Town Hall Building reception

Your first afternoon seminar is in the Deptford Town Hall, one of three Grade-II listed buildings on campus (along with the Richard Hoggart Building and Laurie Grove Baths). The former town hall is grand and ornately decorated, but some of its iconography – including statues – raises questions about how to deal with historic representations of those who wielded imperial power, which the college is actively addressing.

If you are an international student, you may also visit the Immigration Advisory Service on the ground floor, for advice about your visa, or information about working during your time at Goldsmiths.

Hungry? Of course you are, it’s lunch time! Head over to the Goldsmiths Refectory in the Richard Hoggart Building to meet friends. You will be greeted with an ever-changing menu of budget-friendly hot and cold food, including vegetarian, vegan, and halal options – there’s something for everyone.

Council Chamber

After lunch, you head back to Deptford Town Hall to get some hands-on courtroom experience, by participating in a mock-trial! Hosted by the Department of Law, many of these are hosted in the Council Room, and let you practise your legal reasoning by investigating, uncovering, and debating a series of realistically presented scenarios. Things move quick, so make sure you take notes!

Accommodation Kitchen

Inside our accommodation

Tired out from an afternoon of legal action, you head back to your accommodation for a break before heading out for the evening. Living in one of our halls will give you the chance to live with students of different nationalities and from a range of programmes, letting you make friends with a variety of people. All our halls are within a short commute to campus, and are not too far from central London, so you’re never far from an interesting part of London to explore!
