About Scenography workshop

Information Notice

Please note: due to Covid-19, some of the locations may currently have safety measures in place, and be subject to reduced hours and capacity. Find out about changes on campus on our dedicated Covid-19 webpages.

Step inside one of the Department of Theatre and Performance’s scenography workshops, which can be found next to the George Wood Theatre. This particular space is used as a making area, where students can craft props to use in their performances.

The scenography workshop is fully equipped with an extensive range of tools for set design including: saws, drills, and painting supplies. Don’t worry if you are not too familiar with hands-on set production. Theatre and Performance students are supported by five technicians who are specialists in their areas, and will help you realise your ideas.

This isn’t the only space used to bring performances to life. You can also find an open-access media lab with recording facilities, a costume workshop equipped with professional sewing machines, and extensive furniture, prop and costume stores. As a theatre student you will have access to these areas and will be able to get experience that covers all aspects of production to find which specialism is right for you.
